To the Palmer Family. It is certainly at times like this that we are made painfully aware of our own mortality when a loved one such as Don is taken from us. We can only hope but for the short time in which we are on this earth, that when it is ‘our time’ to leave it, that we have put forth kindness, have shown compassion, shared our ideas and ideals with those we have known and have grown to love. If we have done these things before we leave this place, then by most measures, we have made a difference and those that we have left behind, are truly better, for us having been here, and will feel deep sorrow for a time, followed by anger, followed by tears, at times laughter, and finally acceptance. I can say with certainty that for the few short years that I had the privilege of knowing, working, and conversing with Don, that he truly exceeded in these endeavors and will be remembered with fondness until it is ‘my time’.
