Condolence: To the Palmer Family. It is certainly at times like this that we are made painfully aware of our own mortality when a loved one such as Don is taken from us. We can only hope but for the short time in which we are on this earth, that when it is ‘our time’ to leave it, that we have put forth kindness, have shown compassion, shared our ideas and ideals with those we have known and have grown to love. If we have done these things before we leave this place, then by most measures, we have made a difference and those that we have left behind, are truly better, for us having been here, and will feel deep sorrow for a time, followed by anger, followed by tears, at times laughter, and finally acceptance. I can say with certainty that for the few short years that I had the privilege of knowing, working, and conversing with Don, that he truly exceeded in these endeavors and will be remembered with fondness until it is ‘my time’.

Condolence: When we lose someone close to us there is always sadness, and also there is that review of all the moments that one has shared with that person. I’ll also remember the impression he left with me, that deep heart felt passion he held for the things he stood for, like integrity, pride, and persistence, to make things better, to look at everything with a discerning eye, the times he shared an opinion or point of view or bit of wisdom. It's interesting when I think back on some of those subtle moments that he imparted his wisdom on a particular event or subject. It came so natural and easy for him. However in many ways and yet he is still with me. I can still hear his chuckle when he had made a point or funny comment and the sound of his voice when something got him a little riled up. He was a passionate man with opinions, and principles. He was not afraid of letting you know where he stood on something; life, work, politics or ethics. Now mind you he wasn't ever trying to sway you from your own point of view, he just thought you might want to know how it looked to him. It was in that unassuming way he managed to impart his wisdom upon you that made one think. He made me ponder, learn and laugh. I’ve grown close to a lot of people in my time, at work, at play and with family, but I allowed this man to touch my heart, my mind, and my passion for living. He was a co-worker, a mentor and my Friend. I am richer to have known him. A little part of him lives on with me in my continuing quest in this world. Don it was a privilege to have known you, Thank you.
