Donald R.  Palmer
Donald R. Palmer, 62, of 3011 Parker Dr. Georgetown, Texas, died the night of February 13 at St David North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Tx.

Mr Palmer was born in New Castle on February 12, 1947. He was the son of the late Edwin & Martha Mockel Palmer.

Mr Palmer married the former Rosemary DiLullo. She survives.

From 2005 to present, Mr Palmer was a Senior Radio Technician for the city of Austin, Tx. Previously to that, for over 20 years, 1983- 2005, he was the owner and operator of Seneca Communications Inc., located in Mt Jewett, Pa. This company was a certified Motorola Service center, providing telecommunications and two-way radio sales & service support to government & industry.

Mr Palmer was a 1965 graduate of Union High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran serving with the 213th Assault Support Helicopter Company, 1st Aviation Brigade in 1967.

Mr Palmer was an avid pilot, holding multi-engine, commercial, and instructor ratings with extensive experience in a range of turboprop and jet aircraft. His love of teaching and aviation led him to formally instruct a number of student pilots & to impart his enthusiasm for flying to a range of pilots. He was also an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America and coached little league & Babe Ruth baseball teams.

Mr Palmer was a former member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle.

Survivors include his wife; Rosemary, one son; Dr. Todd A. Palmer and daughter-in-law Linda Hutchinson-Palmer of State College, Pa., daughter-in-law; Michelle Palmer of Kane, Pa., one brother; William Palmer of Sun City, Fl., and two grandchildren; Samuel Palmer and Curtis Palmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son; SGT Jeffrey A. Palmer.

Calling hours are Friday, February 20, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 3000 Wilmington Rd. New Castle, Pa. A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday for St Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish for a mass of christian burial at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Victor Molka, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Veterans Section of Parkside Cemetery in New Castle, Pa. Military honors will be performed by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard.
