Jean A.  Newell
Jean A. Newell, 89, formerly of Mt. Jackson, passed away the evening of April 25, 2017 at the Paramount Senior Living at Cranberry.

Born in New Castle on November 18, 1927, Jean was the daughter of the late James V. and Rose Perretta Zarilla. Preceding her in death on July 25, 1994, was her husband, William M. Newell whom she married on May 10, 1952.

Jean was a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and belonged to its Ladies Guild. She retired from Sears Department Store where she had worked in the audit department and also as a sales clerk. Jean had been an active member of the North Beaver Civic Club and the Jameson Guild. She had also had been a poll worker in Mt. Jackson for many years. Jean enjoyed walking, reading and cherished the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, W. Reed Newell and his wife Linda of New Castle, Terri Lohman and her husband, Kenneth Casey Lohman of Gibsonia, PA; James D. Newell and his wife, Deborah of Wexford, PA; five grandchildren, Natalie Lohman, Matthew Lohman, Jessica Lohman, Abigail Newell, William Newell; and her two great grandchildren, David Cumo and Anthony Cumo.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Bozul, her brother, Angelo Zarilla and her infant sister, Margaret.

Visitation is Friday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Saturday, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM and officiated by Rev. Father William Siple. Burial will take place in St. Lucy Cemetery.
