William J.  Querriera Sr.
William J. Querriera Sr., 93, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 3, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on December 24, 1923 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Pallott Querriera. He also was preceded in death by his wife, the former Regina Sylvester, who passed away on October 10, 2009.

William retired from his job as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned Distinguished Service medals. William enjoyed gardening, making wine and brandy, and bowling, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

William is survived by his children, William Querriera Jr., Joseph Querriera, Ronald Querriera and wife Robin, all of New Castle, Richard Querriera and wife Barb of Cranberry Township, PA, David Querriera, Patricia Miller, and Rosemary Bonelli and husband Gary, all of New Castle; brother, James Querriera of Covina, CA; sister, Josephine DeMatteis of New Castle; grandchildren, Austin and Maria Querriera, Jennifer and Ryan Miller, Chris Querriera, Randy and Crista Querriera, Monica Querriera, Adrianna and George Sperdute, and Gabriella Bonelli; and great-grandchild, Dominico Fanno. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Cioffi, Ann Cefalo, and Roseann McCree, and brother, Frank Querriera.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 10:00am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Reverend Frank Almade.

Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
