Obituary for Thomas R. Nelson

Thomas R.  Nelson
Thomas R. Nelson, 56, of State Rt. 18, Wampum, Pa., went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2014. Born on May 28, 1957 in New Castle, Thomas is the son of Raymond E. and Donna J. Hartzell Nelson. Both parents survive and reside in Wampum, Pa.

Thomas graduated from Mohawk High School in 1975 and continued his education at West Virginia University earning a degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduating in 1980 from WVU, Thomas moved to Leesburg, VA where he had a successful landscaping business for thirty three years. He returned to Wampum in 2012 and began working for SSD as a delivery driver. He was a member of Victory Family Church in Cranberry. Thomas loved to read his bible daily, enjoyed jogging and spending time on his computer.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Todd and her husband John of Piedmont, SC; his niece, Andrea Anthony and husband Ben and his great-niece, Adisson Anthony. Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Jean Hartzell and paternal grandparents, John and Martha Nelson.

Visitation is Friday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.

A service will be held on Saturday at 12:30PM at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Bill McGary of Wampum Presbyterian Church and Pastor John Spencer of Victory Family Church. Interment will take place at Castle View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to Victory Family Church of Cranberry 21150 Rt. 19, Cranberry Township, Pa. 16066 in memory of Thomas R. Nelson.
