Obituary for Thomas M. "Pinky" Eakin

Thomas Mac (Pinky) Eakin, 88, passed peacefully and with dignity, in God’s grace on October 26, 2021 with his loving children by his side.

He was born June 6, 1933, in New Castle, where he spent most of his life; a son of the late Ralph (Coke) and Esther Beatrice (McClintock) Eakin.

He married the love of his life, Marjorie Lloyd Eakin, on March 4, 1952. Together they had 4 beautiful children. They shared 48 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2001.

Mr. Eakin was drafted into the Korean War 14 May 1953 and was discharged Honorably 23 March, 1955. He was a man of faith raising his young family at the First Christian Church of New Castle and, later in life, at the Independent Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, raising a garden, and fishing along the banks of the Neshannock Creek. His favorite pastime was spending time with his precious family and friends.

Tom is survived by his children, David Eakin of Sterling, Alaska, Diane Popadak of Ashtabula, Ohio, Daniel Eakin of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Dean (Dawn) Eakin of Wampum, Pennsylvania, 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Richard Eakin; and sister Eileen (Eakin) Harrison.

The Eakin Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Jameson Hospital and CCU as well as The Grove in New Wilmington for their compassionate care.

Tom was truly one of a kind and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.

Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
