Obituary for Susan Santini (Baccile)

Assunta (Susan) Santini, 84, of Shenango Township passed away the evening of October 26, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside.

Born on June 4, 1937 in Ortona, Italy she was the daughter of the late Ettore and Carolina Sarchese Baccile.

On July 2, 1960 Susan married her beloved husband, Pasquale “Patsy” Santini, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2011.

Susan had worked in the laundry department of the former St. Francis Hospital for over twenty years.

Susan was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.

Susan enjoyed knitting and gardening and was known for her green thumb and being able to grow just about anything. She also loved cooking and baking, sometimes for as many as twenty and thirty people especially during the holidays. Susan was famous for her Italian Love Cake made with Slow Gin. A loving mother and grandmother Susan lived a full life surrounded by her loving and devoted family, especially her grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her children, Patsy (Annmarie) Santini, Jr., of New Castle, John (Kathy) Santini of Holden Beach, NC and Rick Santini of New Castle, her brother, Tony Baccile of Idaho, four sisters, Clara Priore of Detroit, MI, Dina Carvella of Clearwater, FL, Casey Ciampoli of New Castle and Hilda Sosnoff of Clearwater, FL and five grandchildren, Allison (Gareth) Clarke, Vincent, Nicholas, Luca and Giuliana Santini.

In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Carmelita Baccile.

Visitation will be on Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate.

Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
