Obituary for Sullivan Paul Cherichetti

Sullivan Paul Cherichetti, 102, of Neshannock Township, passed away the morning of June 3, 2022 at the Community Living Center in Butler, PA.

Born on September 15, 1919 in Dunbar, PA, Sullivan was the son of the late Pomfillio and Lucia Pomroy Cherichetti. Preceding him in death on April 24, 2001, is his wife, the former Lorenzina Panella, whom he married on April 8, 1956.

Sullivan was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.

Sullivan worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp before enlisting in the U.S. Army on September 23, 1941. He proudly served his country during WWII and rose to the rank of Tech Sgt. with the 168th field artillery in the South Pacific until being honorably discharged on May 31, 1945.

Sullivan worked as a barber and owned his own shop for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and was a gifted handyman who could fix anything. He loved spending time with his family and cherished teaching his grandchildren how to fix things.

Sullivan is survived by his son, Paul P. Cherichetti and his wife Marcie of New Castle, his sisters, Philomena M. Panzak and Adeline Lancaster, four grandsons, one granddaughter and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Sullivan is preceded in death by his brothers, Infant Phillip Cherichetti, Pasquale Cherichetti, Joseph Cherichetti and his sister, Concetta Cherichetti.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10am.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 10:15am for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am conducted by Rev. Father Benjamin Barr.

Entombment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
