Sarah M. Henderson, 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 7, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in New Castle on June 7, 1935, Sarah was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Morris Thomas.
Preceding her in death in 1993 is her husband, John Henderson.
Sarah was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Sarah was the owner and operator of her own cleaning business. She enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. Sarah was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children, Melvin Montgomery, Gary Montgomery, Darryl Montgomery, all of New Castle, Jeffrey Montgomery of Landover, MD; Michael (Barbara) Montgomery of Baltimore, Sheila (William) Clarke of Citrus Hills, FL; her sister, Ruth Cobbs of Baltimore; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah is preceded in death by her three sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Prevailing Word World Outreach Center followed by a service at 1:00PM conducted by Apostle David Young, Sr.
Burial will take place in Parkside Cemetery and Mausoleum. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.decarbofuneralhome.com.

Sheila and Billy, your mother's passing was a loss to us all, she made us feel like a part of her family. Personally I will miss the random phone calls I would make to her just to say hello. She will truly be missed. May God's grace and peace sustain you all.
