Obituary for Ruth I. Cochran (Tanner)

Ruth I. Cochran, 92, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 13, 2022 at the Haven Convalescent Home.

Born on February 17, 1930 in New Castle she was the daughter of the late John C. and Frances M. McCart Tanner.

On June 10, 1950 Ruth married her beloved husband, John E. Cochran. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2010.

Ruth was a graduate of Jameson School of Nursing. She had worked as a Registered Nurse for Jameson Hospital for many years, until she retired.

Ruth had been a devoted, lifelong member of Savannah United Methodist Church. She was active in the church choir, the Kings Messenger Singing Group and the Over 55 Club.

She enjoyed playing her Baby Grand Piano. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ruth’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Ruth is survived by her children, Lori Ball of New Castle, Paul Cochran, (Patty) of Houston, TX, three grandchildren, Christopher Cochran, Erica Daigle (Pierce), and Lauren Lee (Benny) and one great-grandchild, Vance Daigle.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers, William Tanner, John Tanner and Paul L. Tanner and her son-in-law, Christopher Ball.

Visitation will be on Monday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.

A Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Savannah United Methodist Church. Pastor Donna Doutt and Pastor Mark Goswick will officiate.

Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery.
