Obituary for Rosemary Bruno

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary Bruno on the morning of 07/20/2021, at the age of 78.

Rosemary was born in New Castle to the late Michael and Jennie (Jane) Singer of Mahoningtown.

She graduated New Castle Senior High in 1960. She married Victor Bruno of Struthers, OH in 1961. She and Victor celebrated their 60th anniversary in April.

While primarily a homemaker, Rosemary used her wonderful cooking and baking skills in several jobs throughout her life including a bakery, as a prep cook at Indian Creek nursing home, Luigi's Pizza & Gigi's Pizza. She also provided childcare for a few families whose children she treated as her own.

Rosemary was a devout Catholic and had a kind, caring and generous nature along with a good sense of humor.

Rosemary was fond of board games, playing cards and working on jigsaw puzzles. She was an animal lover and loved dogs in particular. She would attend the large Memorial Day dog show at the Lawrence County fairgrounds every year and enjoyed watching the famous annual Westminster Dog Show on television. She also enjoyed baking cookies at Christmas and Easter bread at Easter and distributing them to neighbors in years past. Her homemade pizza was second to none.

She was a big fan of Pittsburgh sports teams from the Pitt Panthers to the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. Anyone close by the house in the fall could probably hear her cheering on her beloved Steelers or giving the referees what for.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Singer.

She is survived by her husband, Victor and her daughters, Darla Bruno and Deanna DeRosa and husband Steve DeRosa.

Private services were held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
