Obituary for Richard A. Fishburn
Richard A. Fishburn, age 88 formerly of South New Castle Borough passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021.
He was born July 12, 1932 in New Castle and was the son of the late Everett and Permilla (Mason) Fishburn.
He married the love of his life, Ruth (Heaton) Fishburn, in 1956 and celebrated 63 years of marriage with his bride.
He retired in 1992 with having twelve years of service with PA Engineering and thirty years at Rockwell Industries where he was a respected machinist. Baseball however was his true passion and in 2002 Richard was inducted into Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame – an honor he was immensely proud of. Richard was an avid fan of the LA Dodgers, was dedicated to the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed golfing. He was a devoted member of Hoover Heights Church and loved his family more than life itself.
He is survived by his children Cathy Hurst, Derby, KS, D. Scott Fishburn and wife Robin of New Castle, Beth Stone and husband Michael of West Pittsburg; adored grandfather to Nathan Hurst and wife Shaye, Matthew Hurst and wife Lauren of Derby, KS, Jacob Peters of Henderson, NV, Chelsea DiGia and husband Brian of New Castle, Heath Fishburn and wife Talia of New Castle, and Maria Stone of New Castle. Beloved great grandfather to Gunner Hurst, Nora Hurst, William Hurst of Derby, KS, Everhett DiGia and Genevieve Fishburn of New Castle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth Fishburn, son Ricky Fishburn, son in law Randy Hurst, and granddaughter Melissa Peters.
A visitation will be held Monday July 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road New Castle, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11am with Rev. James Llewellyn officiate.
Interment will be at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
