Obituary for Patricia J. Swanson (Perkins)

Patricia (Patti) Jane Swanson, 70, of New Castle passed away the morning of Friday, September 3, 2021 at Jameson Care Center.

Patti was born Patricia Perkins on April 12, 1951 at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, OH. She was the middle child of three kids. She lived with her family in Struthers, OH until they relocated to New Castle in 1953. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jane Griffiths Perkins and her sister, Karen Fowler.

Patti loved music and animals and was known for her sense of humor. In spite of her suffering a long illness for much of her life, she always thought of others first, never forgetting birthdays and important dates.

She loved her Pittsburgh sports teams and would always send “lets go Pens” or “here we go” texts before Penguins/Steelers games. Her happiness came from her love of family and priorities were always people over possessions. God tells us to be humble and kind, and she was a great example.

Pattie is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie Swanson of Copley, OH and Lesley (Dan) Baughman of Cranberry Twp., PA.

She is also survived by a brother, Robert (Lisa) Perkins of New Stanton, PA, along with many nieces and nephews.

Honoring her wishes, there are no calling hours or services. However, a Memorial Contribution may be made in her honor to The New Castle Humane Society, 602 Pearson St., New Castle, Pa. 16101 or Alpha-1 Foundation at alpha1.org.
