Obituary for Mary S. Curry (Cioppa)

Mary S. Curry, 94, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of August 8, 2020 at The Grove in New Wilmington.

Born on March 4, 1926 in New Castle she was the daughter of the late Louis and Louise DiLello Cioppa.

Mary was married to Richard Curry for forty-six years. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2013.

In the early years Mary had worked for the Lawrence County Courthouse. She later worked for the New Castle News as a teletype setter until she retired.

Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site.

In the early years Mary loved being in the outdoors with her husband, hunting and fishing. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Mary was an avid football fan of Penn State and The New England Patriots. She loved animals and was known for always lending a hand to anyone who was in need of help. Mary’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Mary is survived by her brother, Pat Cioppa and his wife Rose Marie of New Castle, her sister, Angie Dess of New Castle and her many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant brother, her brother, Michael Cioppa, her sister-in-law, Peggy Cioppa and her brother-in-law, Chuck Dess.

A private Blessing Service will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Road. Deacon John Carran will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
