Obituary for Marie A. Sfara (DeCerbo)
Marie A. Sfara, 82, of Hillsville passed away the afternoon of December 16, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown, OH.
Born on August 7, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Patsy J. and Mary Burner DeCerbo.
On April 28, 1956 she married her beloved husband, Michael J. Sfara. He survives at home.
Marie was a member of Holy Spirit Parish.
In the early years Marie had worked for Bell Telephone of Ohio. She later worked for Mohawk Elementary School as an Instruction Aide for thirty-one years before she retired.
Marie was a member of the Christian Mothers at the former St. Lawrence Parish and was one of the Easter Bread Ladies. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marie’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of sixty-three years, Michael, Marie is survived by her son, Mark J. Sfara and his wife Karen of Boardman, OH, her son-in-law, Scott Jones of Mt. Jackson, her brother, Robert J. DeCerbo and his wife Sandy of Canfield, OH, eight grandchildren, Nathan Sfara, Alison Sfara, Melanie (Jordan) Frank, Stephanie (Jordan) Smuts, Rebecca (Christopher) Caldwell and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Sfara and her daughter, Susan McLean Jones.
A private visitation and Blessing Service for the family will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, with Deacon John Carran officiating.
Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
