Obituary for Margaret "Maggie" Argiro

Margaret “Maggie” Argiro, 96, of Hillsville, passed away the morning of October 31, 2019 at Windsor Estates in New Middleton, OH.

Born in Hillsville, PA on May 12, 1923, Maggie was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Teresa Mercurio Tutino.

Preceding her in death on September 3, 1991, is her husband, James Argiro, whom she married on February 26, 1944.

Maggie was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, formerly St. Lawrence Church in Hillsville, where she was active with the Christian Mother’s of the church. For many years she helped with the Easter Bread Project at St. Lawrence Church. Maggie had worked as a bread and pizza maker for Tangier Pizza Shop and Rosy’s Bakery. She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheted many beautiful afghans for her family and friends.

Maggie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Raymond J. Argiro and wife Sandy of New Castle, Donald V. Argiro of Poland, OH; grandchildren, Chris Argiro, Jeffrey (Lisa) Argiro, Gary (Lena) Argiro, Matthew (Lindsey) Argiro, Jared Argiro, Alena Argiro, Nola Argiro and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maggie is preceded in death by brothers, Frank Tutino, Rocco Tutino and her sisters, Anne Nestasie, Josephine Commisso, Rose Gallo, Mary Ieraci and Julia Gallo.

Visitation is Saturday from 9:00am to 11:15am at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 11:15am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12pm at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Anthony site. Rev. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate.

Burial will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
