Obituary for Linda L. Shaftic (Smiley)
Linda L. Shaftic, 71, of New Castle passed away the evening of November 4, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.
Born on November 7, 1947 in New Castle she was the daughter of the late Chester L. Smiley Sr. and Geraldine Ritchie Smiley.
Linda had worked as a Beautician. She also worked at Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV as a Teacher’s Aide working with Autistic Children until she retired in 2011.
Linda was a member of Holy Spirit Parish St. Joseph Site.
Linda loved to travel. A loving Mother and Grandmother she enjoyed being with her family and friends, especially during the Holidays.
Linda is survived by her children, Brooke Norge and husband Mark of New Castle, Jim Shaftic and his wife Sherry of Leeper, PA, Jeff Shaftic and his wife Rochelle of New Castle, her companion, Harley Shoaff, two brothers, Chester Smiley, Jr. and Anthony Smiley both of New Castle, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Mary E. Lynch.
The family will receive friends on Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate.
