Obituary for Kathleen B. Penwell (Pezzulo)
Kathleen B. (Pezzulo) Penwell, 66, of Hillsville, Pa passed away peacefully, Friday September 13, 2019 at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest, with her beloved twin sister, Marlene by her side.
Kathy was born on September 7, 1953 to the late Michael and Lillian Moffo Pezzulo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 2, 2012 by her beloved husband, John D. Penwell, whom she married August 24, 1973.
She was a graduate of Mohawk Junior/ Senior High School in 1971 and Youngstown State University in 1975. With a Master’s Degree in education she was a dedicated Special Education Teacher at Struthers City Schools for 30 years, B.C.C. Schools and with Autistic Children for 1 year. After she retired she continued to tutor children at Springfield Local Schools.
Kathy was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Christ the King and served as President of Christian Mothers at Christ the King.
Kathy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and everyone who knew her will always remember the great big Mama P. Hugs.
She is survived by her only son, Jonathan and daughter-in-law Heather (Moore) Penwell of Pulaski, Pa., the loves of her life, her six grandchildren, Samantha (Brandon) of Hillsville, Pa, Camrynn, Cadan, Brayden, Brianna and Hunter of Pulaski, Pa., one great-grandchild, Triton as well as her twin sister Marlene (Daniel) D’Amato, her brother Charles (Jackie) Pezzulo, a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Roy) Erwin and her mother-in-law Mary Margaret (Taylor) Penwell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Russell Shuluga and Deacon John Carran will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
