Obituary for Katherine E. Huffman (Coates)
Katherine E. Coates Huffman, 91, of Shenango Township passed away the morning of January 16, 2022 at The Grove at New Wilmington.
Born in New Castle on September 26, 1930, Katherine was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Anna Blews Coates.
Preceding her in death on September 10, 2001, is her devoted husband of fifty years, Carl W. Huffman, whom she married on August 31, 1951.
Katherine was a member of First Presbyterian Church of New Castle.
Katherine retired from the Pennsylvania State Unemployment Office. In earlier years, she had worked as a store manager for the Green Trading Stamps Company.
Katherine held many offices and was a charter member of American Business Women’s Association. She was a member of Jameson Junior Guild and the PA Association of Retired State Employees. Katherine loved traveling and especially cherished the times she spent with her family.
She is survived by her brother, Harry Frederick Coates and his wife Susie, two nieces, Peggy (Gary) Kerr, Susan (PJ) Natale, great nieces and great nephews, Jennifer (Pete) Kalemon, Jamie (John) Tessier, Makenna Natale, Michael Natale and three great-great nephews.
Visitation is Wednesday from 12pm to 1pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. followed by a service at 1pm at that funeral home, conducted by Pastor Lorrie Ghering-Burick of First Presbyterian Church.
Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
