Obituary for Joni L. Fulena (George)
Joni L. Fulena, 56, of New Castle passed away the evening of November 27, 2021 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in New Castle on July 23, 1965, Joni was the daughter of the late John, Sr. and Lorraine Wrona George.
Joni was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church.
Joni had worked as a secretary for a local attorney’s office and as a secretary for former Mayor Richard Christopher. Joni was a talented individual and was known for being very creative, artsy and crafty. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted mother to her son and daughter. Joni will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two children, Giovanna Arafa and her husband James, Mark Fulena, Jr. and his fiancé, Alexandria Carbon, all of New Castle; her former husband, Mark (Muggers) Fulena, Sr., of New Castle, sister, Lorraine Perretti and her husband Chris of New Castle, and her two grandchildren, Mila and Alessia Arafa.
In addition to her parents, Joni is preceded in death by her brother, John George, Jr.
Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours.
A funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church conducted by Rev. Father Hanna Karam.
Burial will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.
