Obituary for Janet Marie DuBrock (Pittaway)
Janet Marie DuBrock, age 82 of Glendale, Arizona passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Rising Rainbow Home Care in Glendale.
Born June 15, 1936 in New Castle, PA to the late William Pittaway and Marian Sweet Pittaway. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Minnie Pittaway.
She married Calvin L. DuBrock on July 5, 1952, and they were happily married for 61 years. He preceded her in death November 24, 2013.
Janet worked as a nurse’s aide and later as a unit secretary at Jameson Memorial Hospital for 29 years before retiring in 1996. Following retirement from Jameson she worked as a caregiver for Home Instead Senior Care in and around Lawrence County. At age 75 she was proudly recognized by Home Instead as “Caregiver of the Year” for her compassionate care and assistance to other seniors. Following the death of her husband, Janet fully retired and moved to Arizona.
Janet is survived by her son, Calvin W. DuBrock and his wife, Cynthia (née Allay), of Annville, PA; daughter Patty Szelega of Endicott, NY; grandchildren Joshua, Justin, Samuel, Tony, Meghan, Shannon, Brianna, Kilee, Jason and Matthew; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Pittaway of Corpus Christi, TX; and two sisters, Donna Bucci and her husband, Michael of Sarasota, FL, and Charlene Campbell of Butler.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by daughters Roxane Ritchie and Marsi Skenandore; a son, Richard L. DuBrock; and three sisters, Beverly McConaughy, Sally Forster, and Phyllis Rickard.
Janet will be laid to rest in Castle View Memorial Gardens next to her beloved husband.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3208 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa. 16105.
