Obituary for James Butler Matthews

James Butler Matthews, 64, of Pulaski, Pa. passed away the afternoon of November 11, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Born on August 31, 1957 in New Castle he was the son of the late James C. and Ruth Butler Matthews. He was married to the former Margaret Miron for 34 very memorable years. She survives at home.

Jim had worked at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio for 31 years until retiring in 2008. He was proud to have worked numerous departments ending with being a Union Rep for the UAW 1112. In recent years, he worked at Penn Ohio Cigar Shop in Sharon.

In the past Jim was an avid golfer and played in many leagues. Some claimed he was one of the best. He enjoyed life and was eager to share his wisdom and wit with all. A loving man, Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of New Bedford EPC .

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children Mark Matthews (Maegan), Amber Williams (Robert), Christa Matthews and Margaret Plotts, his sister Sheryle Daly (Larry), twelve grandchildren, one great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Booth.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 20" 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.

A service will be conducted on Saturday at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Abel Robles will officiate.
