Obituary for Harriet Kern (Lossin)

Harriet Kern, 99, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 9, 2018 at Jameson Care Center.

Born December 4, 1918 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Emma Kahler Lossin.

On March 11, 1944 she married her beloved husband, Frank Kern, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1999.

Harriet was a Homemaker. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Harriet was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Detroit Tigers. Above all else she enjoyed being surrounded by her family.

Harriet is survived by two children, Gerald Kern and his wife Karen of New Castle, and Sharon Cope of Camp Hill, PA, a sister, Dolores Marten, three grandchildren, Tina Potts, Alison Cope, Matthew Cope, and one great grandchild, Owen Potts.

In addition to her parents and husband, Harriet was preceded in death by one sister, 2 brothers and her son-in-law, Alfred Cope.

There are no calling hours or service planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be mailed to Christ Lutheran Church, 1302 E. Washington St. New Castle, Pa. 16101.
