Obituary for Gary A. Rodgers

Gary A. Rodgers, 68, of Edinburg, Pa. passed away the morning of December 25, 2021 at UPMC Jameson.

Born on February 5, 1953 in New Castle he was the son of the late Robert L. Rodgers, Sr. and Laura Heath McCance.

On November 11, 1972 Gary married his beloved wife, the former Gloria Jean Smith. She survives at home.

Gary was retired as a track man from Con Rail. He then had worked for Mahoning Township as an equipment operator.

He was a member of Edinburg Presbyterian Church.

Gary was known for his handy carpenter work. He could build just about anything. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar. Gary loved having people around. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Gary’s greatest joy was his family and having family and friend get togethers.

In addition to his wife, Gloria, Gary is survived by his children, Gary A. Rodgers, Jr. (Tammy), Robert Scott Rodgers (Kimberly) and Renee Gonzalez (Marcos H.), three brothers, David Rodgers, John Rodgers and Harlin Rodgers, two sisters, Shirley Baron and Leona Smith and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Rodgers, his brother, Robert Rodgers, Jr., his sister, Barbara Rodgers and his step-father, Chester McCance.

Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.

A Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Matthew Bupp will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Jackson Cemetery.
