Obituary for Dominick "Jap" Covelli
Dominick (Jap) Covelli, 103, a former residence of New Castle passed away the afternoon of January 10, 2021 in Vero Beach, Florida.
Born on September 18, 1917 in New Castle he was the son of the late Michael and Mary DiMuccio Covelli.
On June 14, 1938 Dom married his beloved wife, the former Emma Lenore Colaluca. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1993.
He was the All-State Guard for the 1935-1936 New Castle High School State Basketball Champions.
Before moving to Florida, Dom had worked for Penn Power Electric Company in New Castle, Pa. After moving to Florida, Dom worked in Fort Lauderdale and in Palm Beach as the Chief Electrical Inspector until he retired.
Dom was a former member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker Church.
He was a member of the National Association of Electrical Inspectors. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather Dom’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
Dom is survived by his daughter, Angela M. Moesly of Fort Pierce, FL, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dom was preceded in death by his son, Michael Covelli, his two brothers, Fred and Michael Covelli and two sisters, Madeline Force and Betty Carrigan.
The service is Private.
Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
