Carolyn L. Russo, 84, formerly of Vine St., passed away the morning of December 3, 2018 at Quality Life Services of New Castle.

Born on October 8, 1934 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Aniello and Regina Perretta Napolitano.

On September 13, 1956 she married her beloved husband, John P. Russo, Jr, who preceded her in death on May 14, 2013.

Carolyn was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing and had worked as a Registered Nurse in the surgery department at Jameson Hospital and later with her husband at Russo’s Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Carolyn also served on the boards of the Child Advocacy Center and the New Castle Hospital Authority. Carolyn was a member of Challenges where she enjoyed crocheting with her friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and cherished time spent with her family.

Carolyn is survived by her children, John P. Russo and his wife Nancy of New Castle, Alicia Beardsley and her husband Pete of New Castle, Rose Ann Cugini and her husband Larry, of Brownstown Twp., MI, Richard Russo and his wife Maureen of New Castle, Andrea Martin and her husband Jeff of Volant, two brothers, Frank Napolitano of New Castle, Philip Napolitano and his wife Sharon of New Castle, two sisters, Josephine Pazzo of New Castle, Patsy Bakos of Boardman, OH and a sister-in-law, Shirley Veri of New Castle, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vitus Church at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Father William Siple.

Entombment will be at Parkside Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Child Advocacy Center UPMC. 2010 W. State St. New Castle, PA 16101.

Carolyn was my big sister in nurses training. She was always so helpful and sweet. May she rest in peace with her beloved husband.
