Obituary for Agnes L. Nord (Icenhour)
Agnes L. Nord, 95, formerly of Meyer Avenue, New Castle passed away the morning of March 3, 2020 in Burlington, North Carolina.
Born in Chase City, Virginia on November 28, 1924, Agnes was the daughter of the late James Wallace and Mamie Hessie Watson Icenhour.
On May 13, 1944 Agnes married her beloved husband, Carl B. Nord. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2010.
In the early years, Agnes had worked as a Matron for the Lawrence County Jail.
Agnes was a member of Evangel Community Church in New Castle.
Agnes had been a member of the Wimodausis Society. She enjoyed baking and the fellowship she had with her friends at Evangel Community Church.
Agnes is survived by her children, Randall Nord of Hoover, Alabama, Mrs. Thomas (Karlotta) Young of Burlington, North Carolina, two grandsons, Chase and Blake and a very special friend and caregiver, Barbara Irby.
In addition to her parents and husband, Agnes was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be on Friday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Robert Strobel will officiate.
Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
