Obituary for Stanley "Red" Litrenta

Stanley “Red” Litrenta, 85, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 1, 2019 at his residence.

Born in New Castle on January 28, 1934 he was the son of the late Stanley and Anna Sacco Litrenta.

On September 17, 1958 he married his beloved wife, the former Joan Diana, and she survives at home.

Red had worked for PennDot as an inspector for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Pa. Association of Retired State Employees. Red had served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Red was a dedicated and loyal New Castle High School sports fan and enjoyed attending all the basketball and football games. Red was an avid golfer and enjoyed his daily coffee outings with his friends. Red enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing board games with his grandchildren. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Red is survived by his son, Richard Litrenta and his wife Wende, his brother, Ronald Litrenta and his wife Darlene, his sister-in-law Patti Litrenta all of New Castle, two grandchildren, Raegan and Rocco.

In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph “Buff” Litrenta and his sister Mary Jane DeSimone.

Visitation will be on Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St.

The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rights on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vitus Church at 10:00 a.m. Father William Siple will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
