Obituary for Ralph A. West
Ralph A. West, 81, of Union Township passed away the evening of March 30, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.
Born in New Castle on January 16, 1938 he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Katherine Goclano West.
On October 7, 1967 he married his beloved wife, the former Joanne DeSalvo and she survives.
Ralph had worked as an industrial engineer at Rockwell International. He also worked at Lockley Manufacturing before retiring. During his retirement he enjoyed teaching carpentry at the New Castle School of Trades. Ralph served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and bowling. He enjoyed music and singing and was a member of several choirs throughout the area.
Ralph was a member of St. Camillus Church.
In addition to his wife Ralph is survived by three daughters, Joni West of Sharon, Pa., Lisa Jo Rush and her husband Ron of Lowellville, Oh, Lori Ordak and her husband Scott of New Galillee, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis West and his brother, Joseph West.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rights at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Camillus Church at 10:00 a.m. Father Joseph McCaffrey will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
