Obituary for Beatrice M. Fleo

Beatrice Mary Boccardi Fleo, age 91, passed away on February 21, 2019 at home with her family at her side.

She was born on June 21, 1927, in Ellwood City, PA to Mary Beatrice and Pasquale Boccardi. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Fleo, the love of her life, whom she married on January 3, 1949. Together, they celebrated 63 years of family and faith.

Beatrice was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. She knew that passing on the faith to her children would be her true legacy, which was taught by her example and prayerful life. Beatrice and her husband sacrificed to send their children to Catholic school. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary.

Beatrice had a genuine and sincere devotion to her husband, her family and her faith. She stood strong in that devotion no matter what cost or what storms tried to shake it. She always put the needs and well-being of her family first. She was a good listener and a wise woman whose advice was often sought. She was especially caring and protective of her special-needs child. Through it all she maintained a lot of spunk and a quick wit.

Beatrice is survived by her loving children: Cecilia (Cleo) Logan, Mary Ann and husband Domenic Viccari, Margaret “Peggy” Fleo, Anthony Fleo and wife Colleen, and son-in-law, John Santner. Her grandchildren, Anna Marie Samson and husband David, Anthony Fleo, Vincent Fleo, Christina Santner, John Santner, and great-grandchildren, Olivia and David Anthony. Beatrice is also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret (Fleo) and Joseph Mastropietro.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her daughter, Beatrice Santner and son-in-law, Charles Logan. Other family members, who also preceded her include brothers: Pasquale Boccardi and wife Della, Reverend Raymond Boccardi, and Brother Donald Boccardi, S.M.; sisters: Amelia and husband Peter Carol, Elizabeth and husband Guy D’Ambrosia, and Lucille Allen; mother-in-law and father-in-law Jennie (Fragola) and Dominic (Femiano) Fleo, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: William and Mary Fleo, Joseph and Margaret Fleo, Dominick Fleo, Patsy Fleo, Lucy and Stanley Esposito, Mary and Bob Caughey, Josephine Fleo, and Florence Cioffi; nieces and nephews: Rebecca Romero, Elizabeth “Betsy” Keely-Gant, James Allen, Domenick Esposito, Jeffrey Fleo and Daniel Boughter.
