Virginia (Ginny) A. Eckenrode, 89, of Shenango Township passed away the morning of January 31, 2019 at the Avalon Place.
Born in McVeytown, PA on August 31, 1929, Ginny was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mary Youtzy South.
Preceding her in death on January 28, 2003, is her husband, Elmer J. (Buss) Eckenrode whom she married on June 23, 1948.
Ginny was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.
She had worked as a receptionist for a local eye physician. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and visiting casinos.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Cathy Eckenrode of Greensboro, N.C. and her sister, Helen Yeager of Audubon, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny is preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Harshbarger and twin sisters, Jane and Jean South.
Visitation is Wednesday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.
A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home at 3:00PM on Wednesday. Deacon Daniel Kielar will officiate.
Burial will take place at St. Philip and James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the donor’s favorite charity in her memory.
