Obituary for Eugene I. Barber

Eugene I.  Barber
Eugene I. Barber, Jr., 74, of Union Township, passed away the morning of January 16, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 12, 1944 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Eugene I. Sr. and Olive (Olibe) Lewis Barber.

Eugene was married to his beloved wife for fifty-five years, the former Carol J. Fitzpatrick and she survives.

He was a 1962 graduate of Mohawk High School. Eugene worked as a Physical Chemist for Cemex for over thirty two years before his retirement.

Eugene was a devoted member of St. John United Holy Church where he served as Head Trustee. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Active with his community, he was Vice-President of the Walkers Neighborhood House and truly loved working with the children as their computer Guru.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by his children, Eugene Barber and his wife Mary Loreana of New Castle, Jeffrey Barber and his wife Natalie of Columbus, OH, Nicole Barber- White and her husband James White of South Korea, one sister, Shirley Grymes and her husband Richard of Wampum, four grandchildren, Jeffrey Barber, II and his wife Ira, Chynna Barber-Tutaan, Indya Barber-White and Ashlee Boice and her husband Shawn, nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends, including his special niece, Chonita Fitzpatrick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Barber.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St. and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. John United Holy Church.

A Homegoing service will be celebrated on Friday at the Church at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Eric Board and Rev. Clarence Tucker will officiate.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
