Obituary for Betty J. Hudak (Parks)

Betty J. Hudak, 93, of New Castle, passed away peacefully the evening of January 8, 2019 at Avalon Place.

Born on September 26, 1925 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Parks. On October 22, 1946 she married her beloved husband, Joe Hudak, Sr. and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1992.

Betty had worked as a waitress for Baileys, the Village Inn and later as a Manager for the Diner at Kresge’s Department Store. She and her husband also worked for the family business, JJ’s General Store in Shenango Township.

Betty was a devoted member of First United Brethren Church. If there was one thing Betty taught her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren, it was to serve others, never resting if there was still something to be done for someone else. Those who loved her will miss her dearly, but Betty Hudak left an indelible imprint on this world through her family and by the way she served her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Betty is survived by her children, Barbara Clingensmith and her husband John of New Castle, Joe Hudak, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC, five grandchildren, Allyson Calvert and her husband Tom, Amy Mongiovi and her husband Dave, Logan Hudak, Preston Hudak, Callie Hudak and four great-grandchildren, Avery Calvert, Isabel Calvert, Tyler Mongiovi, and Kayla Mongiovi.

In addition to her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Hall, Juanita White and Martha Bowie.

Visitation will be on Friday 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at First United Brethren Church, 1900 Eastbrook Road, New Castle, Pa.

A service will be held at the church on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Marc Stephenson will officiate.

Interment will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
