Gilbert H. Deegan, 90, of South New Castle Borough, passed away the evening of January 5, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.

Born on May 5, 1928 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Sarah Jones Deegan.

On June 2, 1951 Gilbert married his beloved wife, the former Ann Sedzmak and she preceded him in death on October 6, 2009.

Gilbert had worked as an Iron worker and pipe fitter for Pennsylvania Engineering and was a member of Union Local 207.

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing Bingo. He had served as constable for South New Castle Borough.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Susanne Sizer and her husband George of New Castle, Michael Deegan and his wife Sherry of New Castle, Patricia Deegan Habib of Arvada, Co., Kathleen Waits and her husband Randy of Austin, TX, Michelle Deegan of New Castle, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours and the service will be private.

Interment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
