Clara DeMarco DeMattio, 99, of Reseda, CA, formerly of New Castle, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 after a short illness.

Born on September 12, 1919 in Philadelphia PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Josephine Monico DeMarco.

She married Joseph DeMattio, Sr. on September 23, 1937 and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1985.

Clara had worked at Shenango China for 18 years before moving to California.

A faithful Catholic, she was a member of St. Vitus Church in New Castle and then a member of St. Joseph the Worker in CA where she was a greeter. She was also a lifetime member of the Eagles, and the Sons of Italy. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, making jewelry and crafts, growing roses and making pizzelles for family and friends. Clara especially enjoyed spending time with family both in Reseda and here in New Castle.

Clara is survived by her two sons, Joseph DeMattio, Jr. and his companion, Claudia Stover of New Castle and Ronald DeMattio and wife Roseann of Olean, NY., two sisters, Rose Canami and Jane DeMarco, and one sister-in-law, Mary DeMarco all of New Castle, eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by two daughters, Netta Brown and Donna Stewart Berryhill, granddaughter, Margie DeMattio, grandson, Ricky Brown, three brothers, Mike (Blackie), Dominick and Louis DeMarco, two sisters, Mary Ango and Helen Carducci.

Visitation will be on Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum.
