Nick W. Masters, Sr., 89, of New Castle, passed away the evening of November 5, 2018 at his residence.

Born on August 13, 1929, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Capatt Masters.

On July 20, 1954 he married his beloved wife, the former Betty J. Beck, who preceded him in death on July 14, 1988.

Nick worked as a steel worker with B&W Steel until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Nick served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He enjoyed bowling, playing bocce at Charlies Place and playing softball in his early years. Most important to Nick was being surrounded by his family and spending time with them. He was known as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.

Nick is survived by his children, Nick Masters, Jr., William (Bill) Masters, Terri Ritter and husband George, Rose Herr and Anita Lombaiso all of New Castle, a brother, Chuck Masters, Jr. of New Castle, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Nick was preceded in death by a son, Walter Masters, a daughter, Patty Masters-McVay, one granddaughter, Baby Ritter, and one great grandson, Joseph Sneed.

Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.

The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the funeral home on Friday at 9:15 a.m. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for St Joseph the Worker Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Father William Siple.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
