Donald R. Retort, Sr., 87, of Hillsville, passed away the morning of November 2, 2018 at Oasis Center for Rehab and Healing in Youngstown, OH.
Born on December 23, 1930 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Retort. On October 27, 1962, he married his beloved wife, the former Donna Jean (Tootsie) Micco, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2010.
Frank was a truck driver for Russell Trucking for 35 years, before retiring. Don served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era.
He was a member of Christ the King Parish.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his yard. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.
Donald is survived by three sons, Donald Retort, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Edinburg, Frank and his wife Jodi of Hillsville, and Randy and his wife Tammy of New Castle, and one sister, Theresa Sandullo of Ohio, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Infant Louie, Francis, Joseph Sr. and Julian Retort, and one sister, Angeline LaRocco.
A private Blessing Service was held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. officiated by Deacon John Carran. The New Castle Area Honor Guard performed military rites at the funeral home.
Entombment was at Parkside Mausoleum.
