Obituary for Aaron Cangey

Aaron Cangey, 31, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 9, 2018.

Born March 18, 1987, and raised in Mahoningtown, he was the beloved son of Jeanne (Patrick) Walker and Frank (Traci Alusia) Cangey Jr.

He will be loved always by his brothers and sisters in law Adam (Megan McConnell) Cangey, Andrew (Rebecca Novak) Cangey, and Anthony (Rebecca Morgan) Scarnatti He is survived by his grandparents Cecelia Cangey and Charles Heckler, his long-time love Ginny Jacob, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Frank Cangey Sr. and Elizabeth Heckler.

Aaron was a graduate of New Castle High School, Slippery Rock University, and Southwestern Law School. He was a Public Defender for Lawrence County, and served his clients and coworkers with compassion, integrity, and dedication.

His personality was larger than life, his sense of humor like no other, and his heart both deep and wide. Aaron loved hunting, fishing, and hiking in the woods with his much loved Tamaskan Django. He was a Steelers, Duke, and Penn State fan, could quote endlessly and relentlessly from any number of movies, and enjoyed seafood and hot peppers. He was as stubborn as he was brilliant, articulate and sharp, and could charm a room effortlessly. People were people to him, no matter their background, social status, or politics. All whom he touched were left better by his presence.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church, officiated by Rev. Father William Siple.

Interment will be in St. Lucy’s Cemetery.
