Charles L. Jackson, 93, passed away the afternoon of Monday, September 24, 2018.
Born April 23, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Miles and Margaret Wian Jackson.
He was preceeded in death in 2014 by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nan Jackson, whom he married May 30, 1944.
In World War II, Charles served as a Navy Corpsman imbedded with the First Marine Division in the Pacific Battle of Okinawa and in the disarming of the Japanese in North China following Japan’s surrender.
Charles retired from Wean United as a mechanical engineer designing steel mill equipment for plants around the world.
He was very active in the Boardman Seventh-Day Adventist Church, in Boardman, Ohio, and was in charge of the design and building of the church.
Charles loved gardening, landscaping, and carpentry projects around the house. He and his wife Nan were devoted to their children and loved traveling to spend time with them.
Charles is survived by his children, Kathy Dickson and her husband, Douglas, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Karen Simo and her husband, David of New Castle; and William Jackson and his wife, Rejane, of Hagerstown, Maryland; eight grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Private funeral services and military rites with the New Castle Area Honor Guard will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Interment will take place at Kings Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.decarbofuneralhome.com.
