Obituary for Albert O. LaTona

Albert O. LaTona, 91, of West Pittsburg, passed away the morning of August 7, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born on December 9, 1926 in West Pittsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Tuminella LaTona. On September 6, 1944, he married his beloved wife, the former Nellie M. Cwynar, and the two of them spent 61 years together until she preceded him in death on October 9, 2005.

Known as a very hard worker, Albert worked as a carpenter with the Pittsburgh Carpentry Union for George Stevens Construction, had owned LaTona Builders, and retired from Mahoning Builders Inc. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Albert was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

Albert is survived by his son, Joseph A. LaTona and wife Marge of New Castle, sister, Rose Cionni of West Pittsburg, grandson, Joseph B. LaTona, and great-grandchildren, Michael and Jacob. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Joseph Butera, and sister, Esther Tonsetic.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, officiated by Father Zachary Galiyas.

Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
