Obituary for Maynard A. Nemeth

Maynard A. Nemeth, 82, of New Castle, passed away the morning of June 7, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born on May 24, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Emma Bredl Nemeth. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 36 years, the former Mary D. Shaffer, whom he married on April 24, 1982.

Maynard had worked as a furniture repair technician for Haney’s Furniture. He also had been a driver for George Ku Bus Lines. Maynard served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and National Guard. A devout member and Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph the Worker Church, he always enjoyed reading his Bible. Known as a people person, Maynard also loved meeting people and learning about his new friends.

In addition to his wife, Maynard is survived by his daughters, Tracy Ann Rife of New Castle, Danielle Marie Crans and husband Matt of Columbus, OH, and Linda Ann Clark of New Castle; sister, DeMerice Nemeth of New Castle; grandchildren, Alyssa Rife, Benjamin Crans, and Amelia Crans; and great-grandson, Jaxson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Madden Crans.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Monday at 9:15am at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by Father Vincent Kolo.

Interment will take place in the Veterans Section of Parkside Cemetery.
