Obituary for William E. Klingensmith Sr.

William E.  Klingensmith Sr.
William E. Klingensmith Sr., 84, of New Castle, passed away the evening of April 12, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital surrounded by all of his loving family who prayed for him. Born on September 5, 1933 in New Castle, he was the son of the late James and Marge Gotko Klingensmith. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 65 years, the former Nadyne Stevens, whom he married on December 27, 1952.

Known as a hard worker, William had worked as a brick layer. He then owned and worked as a ceramic tile installer for Klingensmith Ceramics for more than 60 years. He was a man of great faith and served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Vitus Church. Golfing was his hobby, but his family was his greatest passion. William loved helping others, especially his friends and family. He cherished every moment he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by his children, Larry Klingensmith and wife Jana of Erie, PA, Jim Klingensmith and wife Lisa of Canfield, OH, John Klingensmith of Pittsburgh, PA, Debra Elliott and husband Jaime of Volant, PA, Cynthia Taylor of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary McNeish and husband Dennis of Edinburg, PA, and Lisa Jones and husband William of New Castle; brother, Dave Klingensmith of Greeley, CO; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Klingensmith Jr., and grandson, Brandon Ortmann.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:15am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Zach Galiyas.

Interment will take place St. Vitus Cemetery.
