Obituary for Kathryn D. "Kate" Francazio (Costello)

Kathryn D. “Kate” Costello Francazio, age 90, formerly of Temple Avenue, passed away the afternoon of April 4, 2018 in Port St. Lucie, FL. She was born on September 22, 1927 in New Castle, PA and was the daughter of the late James and Anna Padula Costello. She married Samuel D. Francazio on June 14, 1950. He was employed for 42 years at Shenango China as a foreman of the color department. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1996.

Kathryn was a retired quality controller and decorator for Shenango China and had also worked for the New Castle School District for 15 years. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, the Mary Martha Guild, and the Widows Group. She was the Past President of the Ben Franklin Junior High School PTA, member of the Voters Registration at the 4th Ward, Eight Precinct for over 25 years, and a volunteer at the former St. Francis Hospital. Kathryn loved to bake, cook, and enjoyed having her family and friends all around her. Kathryn’s children and grandchildren were her life and her love.

Kathryn is survived by one daughter, Denise Francazio McBrayer with whom she made her home in Jupiter, FL; two sons, Samuel J. Francazio and wife Amanda Forsyth Francazio of Lakewood, OH and Mark J. Francazio and wife Lynn Perrotta Francazio of The Villages, FL; five grandchildren, Justin and Nathan Francazio, Mark and Matthew Francazio, and Victoria McBrayer; one great-granddaughter, Cassadee-Lynn; ten loving nieces and nephews; three brothers, Richard E. “Dick” Costello and wife Anita of New Castle, PA, Michael Costello and his late wife Edith of Delray Beach, FL, and James Costello and wife Mary Ann of Niles, OH; and sister-in-law, Elvira Francazio of Wilmington, PA.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30am to 11:30am at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 11:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by Father Frank Mitolo.

Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
