Obituary for Mary Verdi

Mary  Verdi
Mary Verdi, 93, formerly of Marshall Avenue, passed away the afternoon of March 24, 2018 at Jameson Care Center. Born on May 30, 1924 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Reparata Masone DeProspero. On February 16, 1946, she married her beloved husband, David Verdi Sr., and the two of them spent 39 years together until he preceded her in death on January 16, 1985.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. She loved gardening and cooking for her family. Mary always was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, David Verdi Jr. and wife Charlene of New Castle and Janet Magoun and husband Douglas of Allison Park, PA; brother, Bennie DeProspero and wife Martha of New Castle; sisters-in-law, Ann DeProspero, Gloria DeProspero, both of New Castle, and Dolly DeProspero of Monroe, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Magoun, Joshua Verdi, Eric Verdi, and Hillary McCormick; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel, Victor, and Anthony (Porky) DeProspero.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Blessing services will be conducted Friday at 10:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Mr. Matthew Hawkins, Parish Seminarian.

Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Jameson Care Center for the special care Mary received during her stay.
