Obituary for Anthony J. "Tee" Elisco

Anthony J. "Tee"  Elisco
Anthony J. “Tee” Elisco, 93, formerly of Ryan Avenue, passed away the morning of February 15, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on March 27, 1924 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Biagio and Giovina DiBennedito Elisco. On May 8, 1954, he married his beloved wife, the former Carmella Caiazza, and the two of them spent over 41 years together until she preceded him in death on April 8, 1996.

Anthony had worked for American Cynamid Company, and he later retired as a clerk and dispatcher for the City of New Castle Public Works. At age 15, Anthony joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he served his country in North Africa, Italy, and Southern France. After being discharged in 1945, he enlisted in the National Guard. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and served for a total of 37 years in the U.S. military. Anthony was awarded several medals and citations for his service including Soldier of the Year award at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh.

He was a member of St. Vitus Church where he also served as a lector. Anthony was a past commander of the V.F.W. Post 315 and co-founder of the New Castle Area Honor Guard, Columbus Day Celebration, and Veterans Day Dinner and Dance Banquet. He also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 455 and Italian-American War Veterans.

Anthony is survived by his sons, Mark A. Elisco and Dennis A. Elisco, both of New Castle; sister, Katherine “Katie” Mastrangelo of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Gaetano Elisco, and sister, Mary Recupio.

Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Tuesday at 10:15am at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple.

Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
