Mary J. DePaolo, 93, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 1, 2018 at Haven Convalescent Home. Born on August 12, 1924 in Muddy Creek, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Lydia Laugher Gongaware. In 1952, she married her husband, Frank J. DePaolo, and the two of them spent 27 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 1979.

Mary had worked for Johnson Bronze and as a painter for Shenango China. She later worked for Airway Luggage and in the housekeeping department for Jameson Hospital. Mary retired from the housekeeping department for Liberty Mutual. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. For over 30 years, Mary volunteered for Bible Study at Haven Convalescent Home. She enjoyed quilt making, crocheting, baking, and cooking. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Denise Owens of Gastonia, NC and Francine M. Miller of New Castle; grandchildren, Jeff Mitten, Marcie Lambert and husband Evan, Albert Owens and wife Amanda, Jenny Shultz, Lewis Miller, Matthew Miller, and Lacey Miller; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna J. Mitten, son-in-law, Lewis Mitten, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Monday at 5:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Yergan.
