Obituary for Rita L. Johnson (Barnes)
Rita L. Johnson (Barnes), 60, of New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of January 8, 2018 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital. Born on May 9, 1957 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ben Jones Sr. and Corrine Johnson.
Rita had worked as a social worker. She was a member of Kingdom Hall. Rita enjoyed volunteering for many charitable organizations, playing bingo, cooking, and opening up her house to whoever needed a place to stay.
Rita is survived by her children, Cecil Calhoun and wife Holly Calhoun and Keisha Johnson, both of New Castle, PA; seven siblings, Victoria, Portia, Ben Jr., Walter, Pamela, Shelia, and Paula; seven grandchildren, Mikkal, Jullian, Alaysia, Shay’Ronne, Keishawn, Hayley, and Noah; and two great-grandchildren, Ma’layah and Mikkal Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Victory Christian Center 2009 N Mercer St. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00pm at the church, officiated by Pastor Alonzo Waters.
Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
