Obituary for Nicholas Fortuna

Nicholas  Fortuna
Nicholas Fortuna, 80, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 4, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on July 20, 1937 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Bosco Fortuna. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 49 years, the former Lelia Schroder, whom he married on June 15, 1968.

A graduate of Duquesne School of Pharmacy, Nicholas worked as a pharmacist for various local pharmacies. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Vitus Church and belonged to the Sons of Italy. Nicholas enjoyed gardening, fishing, and listening to music. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Nicholas is survived by his children, Jean Steele and husband Jim, Toni Fortuna, all of New Castle, and Joseph Fortuna and wife Tammy of Slippery Rock, PA; and grandchildren, James Steele, Damian Steele, Joseph Fortuna, Marissa Micaletti, Joselynn Fortuna, Teagan Fortuna, Liam Fortuna, and Joshua McGinniss.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 10:00am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Zachary Galiyas.

Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
