Ethel J. Reno, 83, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of January 3, 2018 at her residence. Born on November 24, 1934 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Ethel M. Reed Covert. On May 7, 1954, she married her beloved husband, Walter C. Reno Sr., and the two of them spent 53 years together until he preceded her in death on March 31, 2008.

In her earlier years, Ethel had worked for Bell Telephone and NEPCO. She retired as a certified nurse’s assistant for Indian Creek Nursing Home and Edison Manor. Ethel enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, and crocheting. She loved her cat Missy and babysitting her grandchildren.

Ethel is survived by her children, Walter C. Reno Jr. and wife Cindy of Texas, Cherylann Brandon and husband Jack of New Castle, Sandra Lee Dando and husband Robert of New Castle, Thomas Alan Reno and wife Sally of Georgia, Daniel Paul Reno of Maryland, Linda Mae Braden and husband Harold of New Castle, and Judy Lynn Milliken and husband Pat of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall Charles Reno; great-grandchild, Harlee DeHass; brothers, Bob, Jack, and Raymond Covert; sister, Carrie Mae Johns; and infant brother, Paul Covert.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Sunday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Richard Nero.

Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
